For the mannerless among us, let’s start with the fundamentals. If you think someone is pregnant, but they’ve told you nothing about it, the best advice I can give you is to mind your own business. If someone tells you they are pregnant, and they seem happy about it, the only word necessary is “congratulations”. Thankfully, that sentence is a complete one.

That was the exact word used by British Vogue to describe model and actress Pamela Anderson’s decision to attend Paris Fashion Week bare-faced, without any make-up on. Heaven knows how many empires have fallen because women like me – of the non-actress and non-model variety – regularly have the audacity to arrive at the office without wearing any concealer.

A recent report from Survivors Against Terror has highlighted the problems faced by victims of terror attacks as they try to seek compensation the government’s Criminal Injuries and Compensation Authority (CICA). Just 7 per cent of survivors felt CICA was sympathetic to their needs, and 68 per cent of those surveyed felt the process was unfair and unreasonable.
