An 11-year-old Bristol Township boy fired a handgun walking home from the Ben Franklin Middle School on Tuesday afternoon, police said. There were no injuries and authorities said it was not a “targeted shooting.”The middle school, on Mill Creek Road, was closed Wednesday after district officials went to remote learning. Police presence and patrols was increased at all district schools, police said. The child fired the gun about 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Goldenridge Drive, Levittown.

Plans for a bigger passenger terminal to accommodate growing demand at the Trenton-Mercer Airport appear temporarily grounded. The Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure said its plans to modernize the regional airport would begin in late 2023 and would be completed in 26 months. Levittown turns 72 this year, a moment marked when John and Philomena Dougherty were the first residents to move into their Levittowner-style house on Stonybrook Drive in Tullytown. Fun fact: That sentence, inevitably, will cause one or more people who read it to furiously dispute that the Doughertys were the first to move into Levittown, Pa., citing family lore that mom/dad/grandma/grandpa claimed they were the first, and the record should be corrected.
