Kuna (a pseudonym for her protection) is a Nuba diaspora returnee currently displaced within Sudan due to the ongoing war between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces. We discuss how Nuba, Darfuris, and those who live in western Sudan are subjected to anti-Blackness: this anti-Blackness predates the current war and now continues to magnify the intensity of state and paramilitary violence.

When the Gaza Solidarity Encampment was announced at Columbia, I was sitting outside of my house in Jimma, a zone in Oromia, Ethiopia. It was a cognitive dissonance to witness, via social media, the New York City Police Department’s threats against, and eventual brutalization of, Ivy League students against the backdrop of the Great Lawn’s clinically idyllic scenery.
