Distilling a year’s worth of idiotic — and largely inconsequential — criminality into one reflexive story has never been an easy task. It’s grown only harder since Nashville decided to cater to infrequent visitors committed only to coming to town for a few days to flaunt the standards of good taste, decorum and decency. On July 7, 1924, a team of a half-dozen Americans put up a score of 363 in the men’s trap-shooting team competition at the Paris Olympics. Among them: 36-year-old Nashville attorney John Hopkins Noel Sr.That 363 was three points better than Canada and scored the U.S., including Noel, a gold. It was the last gold medal awarded in the team trap competition, but it was the first gold medal awarded to a Tennessean.

Give this to Rep. Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood): The man is a filterless idea factory. The small-government lip-servicer will get an idea in his brain or a problem in his sights and just throw endless pieces of legislation at it hoping to solve whatever the hell it is by sheer tonnage. And under that mass of paper and whereases, you can usually find a wee nugget — what Bulso is actually trying to accomplish while he distracts you with mass. Take HB1828.

Wrestling obsessives often struggle to convey the gravity of a certain match or storyline to normies. Casuals — or the otherwise heretofore uninterested — are nevertheless usually sucked in by the performances. Pro wrestlers are larger-than-life physically with outsized personalities to match.
