Sly Stone, the funk pioneer who fused soul music with psychedelia, rock and gospel with his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Band Sly and the Family Stone, died June 9 at the age of 82, his family announced. “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Sly Stone of Sly and the Family Stone,” the statement said.

Influential and beloved Virginia hip-hop duo Clipse will tour as a duo for the first time in 15 year on the “Let God Sort Em Out Tour,” supporting the album of the same name. The 25-stop tour, produced by AEG Presents, will visit 25 U.S. cities, beginning Aug. 3 at Boston’s Roadrunner. Clipse will perform in New York, Atlanta, Philadelphia and more, including a hometown play at The Dome in Virginia Beach, before the tour wraps Sept. 10 at Detroit’s Masonic Temple. Earthgang will support.

A bill making its way through the New York state legislature would bar speculative ticketing, limit secondary-market mark-ups and allow artists or venues to mandate face-value resales on their events. Assembly Bill 8659/Senate Bill 8221 is the latest effort by a state government to do what Congress has thus far has been unable or unwilling to do: make comprehensive changes to the live-events ticketing system.

Live-events discovery platform Fever has acquired ticketing platform DICE, the companies announced June 5. The terms of the deal were not disclosed and comes nearly a year after DICE was reportedly looking to sell a “major stake.”DICE has raised nearly $200 million, including $65 million from MUSIC, the investment company founded by Matt Pincus. Earlier this week, Fever announced it had secured $100 million in new equity funding itself.

FireAid, the benefit concert that raised approximately $100 million for relief in the wake of the January wildfires in Southern California, announced the distribution of an additional approximate $25 million, in a second round of grants, following the approximately $50 million released in February. The new $25 million in grants supports initiatives around financial and housing stability, mental health and trauma services for families and individuals, and community infrastructure.
