To serve growing demands for imaging of the Earth from space, Teledyne Technologies Inc. and its Teledyne Space Imaging business launched a trio of upscreened-variant (USV) CMOS imaging sensors well-suited for long operating lifetimes while observing the planet (see image above). Capable of resolution from 1.3 to 67.0 Mpixels, the sensors are good fits for such applications as monitoring, situational awareness, and payload checking.

Constellation Technologies & Operations (CTO) has signed a memorandum of intent with the European Space Agency (ESA) to conduct joint experiments in low Earth orbit (LEO). Testing will include evaluation of millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications for 5G wireless networks onboard a LEO satellite (LEOS) scheduled for launch in June 2025. The agreement is meant to strengthen Europe’s position in satellite-based 5G wireless connectivity.

A joint effort by Creomagic Ltd. and RT LTA Systems Ltd. has resulted in a versatile integrated system for persistent aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The SkyCnet system (see image above) combines RT’s aerostat surveillance capabilities with Creomagic's skills for secure tactical communications. The system was recently unveiled in early May at the 2025 DEFEA Exposition in Athens, Greece.

NATO’s Naval Forces Sensor and Weapons Accuracy Check Sites (FORACS) have contracted Keysight Technologies to upgrade key defense electronics test capabilities. According to the NATO FORACS headquarters office in Brussels, Belgium, the contract will enable the modernization of measurement capabilities for simulation and testing of the latest electronic-support-measures (ESM), electronic-warfare (EW), and radar systems.
