Global business travel projected to surpass 2019 levels by 6.2% this yearPA WireUK business travel is set to hit a record high this year as it surpasses pre-pandemic levels for the first time, according to a new report. The sector has been slower to recover than leisure travel due to the rise in remote working and the decline in face-to-face meetings. In 2023, business travel globally was still 5.4% lower than the 2019 peak while leisure travel had bounced back to just 2.9% down.

Former US Secretary of State John Kerry has warned that devastating storms like Hurricane Milton will become increasingly common unless more is done to “win this battle” against climate change. It comes just two weeks after the Gulf Coast was hit by Hurricane Helene which left at least 225 people dead. Hours before Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, former US climate envoy Mr Kerry said that the world was “really on a precipice”.
