Casper College's Andi Schissler capped her Thunderbird career in style Wednesday when she was named to the National Junior College Athletics Association All-America first team. The 5-foot-9 sophomore averaged 19.3 points per game this season to help lead the Thunderbirds (28-7) to the Region IX Tournament championship for the fourth year in a row and sixth consecutive appearance in the NJCAA Division I Championships.

The Casper College men's rodeo team might be working under its third head rodeo coach in eight months, but one thing remains constant: the Thunderbirds have the best group of saddle bronc riders in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Entering this weekend's Ropin' and Riggin' Days Rodeo inside The Arena on the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds, the T-Birds have the top three saddle bronc riders and seven of the top 10 in the region.

Two weeks ago, Neil Williams was doing construction. This weekend he’ll be behind the bucking chutes as Casper College’s interim rodeo coach for the school’s annual Ropin’ and Riggin’ Days Rodeo at The Arena on the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds. “It’s been a bit of a whirlwind,” Williams said after the Thunderbirds’ practice Tuesday at the Tom Parker Practice Arena at the Casper College Ranch and Rodeo Facility west of town.

Less than 17 hours after scoring nine goals in a shutout victory over Evanston on Friday night, Kelly Walsh found itself in a scoreless tie against Riverton at halftime. Raynor Ranum proved to be a quick learner. Just two years after competing in shot put and discus for the first time, the Campbell County senior already owns the school record in both events. “I played basketball my freshman year and then my friends talked me into doing track,” Ranum said Thursday at the Glen Legler Early Bird Invite in Casper. “So I didn’t start throwing until my sophomore year.”Ranum has quickly made up for lost time.
