The group is tied for second-largest in school history with 2023.  Dr. Dustin Shipman, Big Sky School District superintendent, began the 2025 Lone Peak Commencement Ceremony by expressing pride in each student’s accomplishments.

    By Jack Reaney SENIOR EDITOR Residents in the Big Sky County Water and Sewer District will see per-gallon water use rates rise 5% beginning July 1, plus base rate and sewer rate hikes outlined in the district’s five-year plan to match customer rates with rising operating costs. In July 2026, rates will increase by the same margin again.

    By Jack Reaney SENIOR EDITOR The Gallatin River Task Force is leading a project to honor Steve Johnson, who passed away in June 2024 and made his mark as an advocate for Big Sky’s watershed health and water-related infrastructure.  The exact site has yet to be determined, but it will be located on Big Sky Resort Area District land near the intersection of U.S. Highway 191 and Montana Highway 64—also the confluence of the West Fork of the Gallatin River and the mainstem Gallatin.

    By Jack Reaney SENIOR EDITOR On Saturday, May 17, Big Sky Discovery Academy celebrated five graduating seniors in a ceremony that included speeches by each student’s chosen mentor.  The five students represent the sixth graduating class of the 11-year-old school, which continues to grow and evolve its programming to meet the needs of its families. The class of 2025 is tied with 2021 for the school’s largest-ever class.
