By Jack Reaney SENIOR EDITOR Big Sky will soon benefit from an additional fire station for the first time in more than 25 years as a 10,000-square-foot, $19 million facility “represents the most significant investment in Big Sky Fire Department’s fire infrastructure history,” according to Big Sky Fire Chief Dustin Tetrault. On Thursday, June 5, Tetrault and his BSFD comrades celebrated the groundbreaking of their third station, located at the primary entrance to the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club.

From a small school and its often lopsided eight-man football matchups to a specialty high school in Florida and a NCAA Division I program at Elon University in North Carolina, Helms is now preparing to compete on Montana’s biggest football stage.

EBS STAFF Lone Mountain Land Company has announced a new hotel for Big Sky’s Town Center, the “independent boutique” Hotel Free West. The 81-room hotel will feature “modern mountain design with a polished rustic charm,” according to a May 30 press release from LMLC.

By Jack Reaney SENIOR EDITOR On Friday, May 23, the Big Sky Fire Department recognized its staff during the department’s inaugural employee recognition ceremony, including awards for “Best of 2024,” milestones of service time, and new hires and promotions. Fire Chief Dustin Tetrault told EBS it was great to get everyone together for the event, the first of its kind since COVID put a hold on in-person gatherings.
