A bill proposed by Rep. Laura Supica, a Democrat from Bangor, will become law 90 days after the Legislature adjourns and raise the legal marriage age to 18.The law currently allows 17-year-olds to get marriage licenses with parental consent.This bill was passed by the full Legislature, but Gov. Janet Mills did not sign the bill. In Maine, a bill can become law without the governor's signature, but not until three months after adjournment.

Last year there were more than 1,100 homes sold for $1 million or more here in Maine. A new proposal would more than double the tax on part of that sales price. Secretary of State Shenna Bellows and the legislature's transportation committee are proposing this phased-in approach and say people traveling without a Real ID should receive a warning."We're concerned that May 7 will come as a shock," Bellows said.To prevent that shock, Bellows and the committee are sending a letter to TSA and the Department of Homeland Security urging them to allow Maine residents to be given a warning if they don't have a Real ID.

District attorney Maeghan Maloney said she was surprised to find out a complaint was filed against her because she said Maine state law allows her to be in touch with victim advocates, which is what the complaint was about. It's been four years since transgender women have been allowed to participate in the sports that align with their gender identity, but the push to allow this dates back 20 years. Paid family and medical leave deductions are already coming out of Mainers' paychecks. The program itself is not expected to start until next year, but there are more than a dozen bills being proposed that would delay that. "Rather than continue to take money out of people's paychecks every week. Let's repeal the program and let businesses come up with their own program for their employees," Rep.
