It's been 13 years since transgender women have been allowed to compete in the Miss Universe organization, which includes Miss USA. But Maine has never had a transgender woman compete until this year, when Isabelle St. Cyr entered the competition. She said she knew she felt like she was a girl when she was just 3 or 4 years old and was able to verbalize it by the age of 10.

In Bangor on Thursday morning, Gov. Janet Mills spoke to reporters for the first time since the U.S. Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit against the Maine Department of Education. "I’m happy to go to court and litigate the issues," Mills said. Mills said the Trump administration is using this lawsuit to distract from things people care about, like the cost of fuel, eggs and construction supplies.
