It's been widely reported that LePage moved to Florida after losing the 2022 gubernatorial race to Gov. A bill proposed by Rep. Laura Supica, a Democrat from Bangor, will become law 90 days after the Legislature adjourns and raise the legal marriage age to 18.The law currently allows 17-year-olds to get marriage licenses with parental consent.This bill was passed by the full Legislature, but Gov. Janet Mills did not sign the bill. In Maine, a bill can become law without the governor's signature, but not until three months after adjournment.

Last year there were more than 1,100 homes sold for $1 million or more here in Maine. A new proposal would more than double the tax on part of that sales price. "If you're buying a home that's $1.52 million, you'll pay a higher tax on the portion of that sale that exceeds a million, in Maine," Speaker of the Maine House Ryan Fecteau said.
