'Grateful to be here': Emotional sendoff for first Triad Honor Flight of 2025

Nearly 100 veterans are being celebrated for their service with the first Triad Honor Flight of 2025. This is a free trip for veterans to Washington, D.C., to see memorials and monuments that honor their service. This flight included three WWII Veterans, about a dozen Korean veterans and 84 Vietnam veterans. More than 30 attendees, including guardians, are purple heart recipients, as well. "It is a trip of a lifetime," said Alison Huber, executive director of the Triad Honor Flight.
Support United Way of Forsyth County at Sneaker Ball this weekend

The United Way of Forsyth County will host its annual Sneaker Ball on Saturday, May 3. Doors open at the Bridger Field House at Wake Forest University’s Allegacy Field at 6:30 p.m., with the event running from 7-11 p.m. As the name implies, the Sneaker Ball is an opportunity for guests to wear formal attire, but with one important twist: their shoes need to be sneakers. The event will feature a DJ, saxophonist Bryan Patterson, Jr., dancing, dinner and drinks, and a silent and live auction.
