Tina Cane, Winter Online Adult Writers Workshops Faculty I am not sure how I stumbled upon Jo Clement’s Outlandish (Bloodaxe Books, 2022), but I am delighted that I did. It’s riveting. Clement’s voice is instantly distinct, as she harnesses deep music and arresting imagery to evoke Roma cultural traditions and legacy.

Three recent books I’ve loved by KR contributors: People Want to Live by Farah Ali contains her KR story, “The Effect of Heat on Poor People,” along with thirteen other stories set primarily in Pakistan about characters desperate to change their lives, surrounded by people with the power to help, hinder, or sometimes, only stand by helplessly. Ali assembles a powerful cast of indelible characters poised at moments of possible transformation.
