SE Saline cruises in 76-12 win over Larned

Southeast of Saline rolled to 9-0 on the season in their first-round playoff victory, defeating Larned 76-12 on Friday night. The Indians would strike first on a long touchdown pass, but from there it would be all Trojans, all the time. Southeast would score the final 70 points of the first half, and the next 76 points of the game, quickly removing Larned’s hopes for an upset. Southeast would tally 215 passing yards, and an impressive 335 rushing yards in the win.
Mustangs season ends with loss at Maize South

The Salina Central Mustangs’ season came to an end on Friday night, falling on the road to the Maize South Mavericks 56-35. The Mustangs entered the game at 4-4 on the season, as the #10 seed in the Class 5A West Bracket. The Maize South Mavericks were the #7 seed, posting a record on 5-3 entering the playoffs. Maize South scored on its opening possession, capping off an eight play drive with a touchdown pass from QB Tate McNew to WR Alex Singateh.

Salina South closes regular season in loss to Maize

The Salina South Cougars fell in their regular season finale on Friday night, as the Maize Eagles commanded a 57-0 win. The Cougars opened the game by controlling possession of the football, with the offense holding possesion for nearly 10:30 minutes in the opening quarter. Despite limited opportunities, Maize took advantage of two big plays early to grab the game’s first score, a 4-yard touchdown run by RB Shannon Jones.
Salina Central rolls Newton 57-7

The Salina Central Mustangs got back to their winning ways on Friday night, defeating the Newton Railers 57-7. Salina Central (3-2) ran the ball with ease on the night, rushing for over 300 yards as a team behind their big offensive line. Junior Running Back Cooper Reves rushed for over 100-yards for the second-straight game, tallying nearly 190 yards on just nine carries, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the effort.

Salina Central Tennis excels in Topeka West Invitational

The Salina Central Girls Tennis team competed on Tuesday at the Topeka West Invitational at Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka. The Mustangs secured first place in both #1 and #2 Doubles on the day. At #1, the tandem of Addison and Mallory Renfro claimed their 5th tournament crown of the season, sweeping through competition by besting three top-ranked 6A foes in the tournament. The Renfro sisters defeated the #1 Doubles team from Blue Valley West 7-6 (1), 6-4 in the final round.
Southeast of Saline knocks out Kingman, 40-6

The #2 ranked team in 2A, Southeast of Saline, stayed undefeated Friday night, taking down the Kingman Eagles 40-6 on the road. The Trojans tallied 258 yards of offense, but once again a solid rushing attack would lead the way. Quarterback Gannon Jacobson would lead the way with 79 yards, closely followed by Running Back Amarion Holub with 76 yards, as each of the two would score a touchdown as well.
Eisenhower spoils Central Homecoming

The Goddard-Eisenhower Tigers defeated the Salina Central Mustangs on Friday night 51-28 from Salina Stadium. The Tigers entered the game unbeaten, and ranked as the #5 team in Kansas Class 5A – Friday night they showcased why that is. Salina Central would turn the ball over three times in the first half, with the first of those being a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown by Britton Cline.
