Thames Water has told customers to "fix leaky loos" amid fears of a hosepipe ban caused by the unusually dry spring weather. The water company has written to households urging them to "be mindful" about water usage, but stopped short of implementing a hosepipe ban despite Britain facing its driest spring in 69 years.

European lorry drivers are putting signs on their trucks that say they are "not going to the UK" in a bid to deter potential stowaways. HGV drivers operating only in Europe are displaying the warnings with one lorry in Latvia, 900 miles from Calais, spotted with black and yellow signs that declared: "We don't go to the UK." The message was repeated underneath in French, according to The Sun. Other Europe-only hauliers are using signs on their fleets.
