The anticipation for the next Mario Kart might rival that of the Nintendo Switch 2 itself. It’s been nearly 11 years since Mario Kart 8 originally launched on the Wii U and eight years since it was re-released for the Switch as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I think one of my key takeaways from Summer Game Fest was that the video game industry has learned the lesson the movie industry is refusing to learn: Mid-size, mid-budget projects are good! There's room for CoD and Assassin's Creed alongside Kunitsu-Gami and Lego Horizon.
Honestly, a pretty refreshing Summer Game Fest, with a huge focus on indies and some honesty about the state of the industry. But mostly Killer Bean.
