    A captivating panorama of landscapes and skies invites us on a journey through the worlds of two collaborating artists at Gallery 1740 inside Christ Church Presbyterian. “Through Windows and Across Parks” showcases paintings and multimedia works by Savonna Nicole Atkins and Rachel Grant, both SCAD graduates and devotees of impressionist landscape art. Their works explore themes of motherhood, memory and our relationships with the natural world. The exhibition is on view through Feb. 7.

    Elizabeth Koch Tiscione joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as principal oboist in 2007-2008 season. During those years, the orchestra made 18 commercial recordings — mainly with music director laureate Robert Spano, in addition to those with then-guest conductor Sir Donald Runnicles, and most recently a new release with music director Nathalie Stutzmann conducting. Tiscione recently joined Lois Reitzes on “City Lights” as part of our series celebrating 50 years of ASO broadcasts on WABE.

    If you’ve ever felt scared about going to the dentist, “Doctor De Soto” is the story for you. The lovable 1982 children’s book by William Steig, is a tale of a mouse dentist who’s more nervous about his patients than they are about him – no wonder, given that some might be inclined to eat mice! Now adapted for the stage by playwright Idris Goodwin, “Doctor de Soto” will be on the Hertz Stage at the Alliance Theatre, Jan. 18 — March 2.
