In 1982, photographer Janette Beckman found herself standing at the intersection of two worlds: the streets of London and the vibrant, fast-evolving culture of hip-hop. Armed with a camera and a curiosity that would change the course of her career, Beckman captured a pivotal moment in hip-hop history. She was at a concert at a historic place called the Venue, which was owned by Virgin Records.
