    News MINISTER in the Ministry of Housing Anil Roberts has issued a legal threat against blogger Rhoda Bharath over two social media posts, demanding a public apology and the removal of the alleged defamatory content. Roberts, who also serves as a government senator, sent a pre-action protocol letter through his attorneys Kiel Taklalsingh, Stefan Ramkissoon and Johanna Richards on June 22. Bharath is the owner of the “Newsauce” page, where the posts were published.

    News A local consultancy firm has appealed a High Court ruling dismissing its lawsuit for outstanding fees, rent and compensation stemming from an alleged tenancy and service agreement with an attorney, his practice and a related property management firm. Aaron Knights Enterprises Ltd (AKEL), owned by managing director Aaron Knights, maintains it was unlawfully evicted from its office space and denied payment for consultancy services rendered over several years.

    News KERRI-ANN Leon Sing, a former home administrator at the Couva Children’s Home and Crisis Nursery, has sued the Children’s Authority for allegedly failing to investigate serious allegations of sexual abuse at the home. Leon Sing was granted permission in May to pursue her judicial review claim, which comes up for hearing on June 27. Justice Nadia Kangaloo is presiding.

    News AN engineering firm has lost its final appeal of the dismissal of its claim for $11.2 million owed to it by the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago (Udecott) for certain engineering services in the construction of houses at Oropune Gardens Phase II in 2010. In 2017, Justice Ricky Rahim dismissed Dipcon Engineering Services Ltd’s lawsuit.
