Recent advances in the bottom-up synthesis and processing of low-dimensional materials with highly tunable electronic properties have reignited the prospect of hybrid nanoelectronics. Combining the scalability of top-down fabrication with the atomically precise structure of bottom-up materials could one day supplant complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology as silicon approaches its physical limits.
