U.S. President Donald Trump launched a full-scale trade war on Thursday (Wednesday, by U.S. time), announcing massive “reciprocal tariffs”, ranging from 10% to 49%, on U.S. imports from its trading partners around the world, India was not spared, being hit with a 26% tariff on its exports to the U.S. despite ongoing talks for a trade agreement.

Boeing’s new President and CEO Kelly Ortberg is in India this week which is his first international visit since taking over in August. On his agenda are business meetings with Boeing’s customers in the country, along with key government stakeholders as well as employees. Though the visit has been kept under wraps, it is learnt that visits to some of Boeing’s facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru are also on his itinerary. He is in India for nearly three days.

Air India Group, which completes three years of privatisation this month, has recorded the fastest growth in passengers on its far-flung international destinations such as the U.S., Europe and Australia. The airline’s passenger share on routes to North America, Europe, U.K., Australia, Far East Asia and Africa stood at 16% at the time the Tata Group took over the reins of the airline from the government in January 2022.
