Every year, I have a good grasp on who will win at the coveted Grammy Awards. Most of the time, it's honestly kind of obvious that one album rises into pop culture popularity above others...that one artist has made a bigger mark on the industry this year. However, 2024 proved to be a huge year for music. Don't believe me? Let me put it into perspective. Charli XCX gave us which embodied an entire color and mindset for the summer.

We all know that I didn't love A Complete Unknown. I made my feelings clear from the beginning: the movie was a bore, but I did love Sylvie Russo and Joan Baez' characters. Yes, Monica Barbaro who plays Joan and Elle Fanning as Sylvie stole the show in more ways than just their acting. Every time Joan Baez took the stage alone (or alongside Dylan,) I wanted to wear her outfits. What the movie perfectly executes is casual feminine style from the 1960's.

A Complete Unknown starring Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan was guaranteed to be a blockbuster hit. After the buzz of Wicked and Gladiator II died down, Chalamet's press tour and opening weekend were proving to satiate the public. Part of the film was shot in my city, Hoboken, NJ, where I got to witness Chalamet himself. If I'm being wholly honest: I never fully knew the lore of Matilda Djerf. I knew about Djerf Avenue, the admittedly overpriced and equally trendy eponymous brand of Matilda...but that was about it. What I gathered from Djerf Avenue was that Matilda is the face of the coastal grandmother, clean girl aesthetic. She made curtain bangs cool again, her Instagram makes you want to romanticize your life in the best way possible.

I have the same problem every single year: I have no clue about what to wear on New Year's Eve. We all know the classic holiday attire: velvet, sparkles, lots of basic black, maybe some silver or gold. But, I'm not always into wearing kitschy clothes emphasizing the start of a new era. No, you won't see me donning the "2025" glasses. No gold sashes flaunting the new year. No silly hats.
