In front of friends and family, Avon Park’s Landice Pollard announced her signing with Warner University volleyball. An aspiration she didn’t think was a possibility for her came to fruition when she put pen to paper. “It’s really crazy, because I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll just play volleyball. I won’t ever play college volleyball’ until last year I started getting looked at, and it really didn’t feel real,” she said.

A Green Dragon football player is headed to the next level. Lake Placid High School’s AJ Felton announced his signing to play football at St. Thomas University. “I feel good,” Felton said about signing with the Bobcats. “Blessed to have another opportunity to play football at the next level. It’s always been a dream to play football.”Felton said there was a lot to like about St. Thomas. The first was the Bobcat’s feature back Rontavious “Tay” Farmer.

The No.17 Panthers couldn’t close out the No. 1 Pasco-Hernando Bobcats on Friday night. The matchup was everything to be expected between the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds of the FCSAA Division II Baseball Tournament. Things were tight the whole way as both teams delivered haymakers. In this nine-inning brawl, there was no telling which team would be standing on top after the final out. South Florida’s season was put on the line with the 6-5 loss.

A strong beginning to postseason play. No. 17 South Florida State College baseball couldn’t have a better start at the FCSAA Division II Baseball Tournament on Thursday in New Port Richey. The two-seeded Panthers defeated the three-seeded No. 18 St. Johns River State College Vikings by run rule 10-2 in seven innings. A big opening charge with a tough, literally, pitching performance got the opening round win leading wire-to-wire. “It’s 0-0,” Head Coach Rick Hitt said.
