    Max Holmes and Zach Guthrie have topped the coaches' association votes after Melbourne and Geelong's Round 8 clash at the MCG. In what was a hard fought contest between the teams, the coaches viewed Holmes as the best player on the field; his 31 disposals, nine marks, six score involvements and almost 700 metres gained earned him eight votes. Holmes consistently gave the Cats drive out of the backline with six rebound 50s and was a key contributor in game of small margins.
