Eating disorders (EDs) are life-threatening illnesses, yet even our best available treatment and prevention approaches produce modest effects in reducing their severity, prevalence, and impact. Improving outcomes requires greater understanding of the diverse mechanisms that account for their onset and persistence, and effectively targeting them through intervention.
