After one half, Virginia leads Illinois, 21-7, and doing what good teams do to rebuilding teams.

Illinois punted on 4th-and-1, and Virginia answered with a seven-play, 62-yard drive, capped by Armstrong's pass to a wide-open Dontayvion Wicks. 21-7, UVA, with 1:17 left in the first half.

Justin Duenkel missed a 31-yarder to end a long drive, so UVA now has 276 total yards (at 9.5 per play) and only 14 points to show for them. So here comes Illinois' offense to try to tie the game.

Illinois took a shot downfield, and it was a 33-yard touchdown pass. 14-7, Virginia.

After one quarter: Virginia 14, Illinois 0. And it's not really that close. Brennan Armstrong is 7-for-13 for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Illinois has 33 total yards on 13 plays and hasn't crossed midfield.

Virginia again moved inside the 30 with almost no resistance, but this time Justin Duenkel missed a 39-yard field-goal try. Other than that, UVA has been almost flawless, up 14-0 with 3:50 left in the first quarter.

Illinois' defense hasn't arrived yet, and Brennan Armstrong is slinging the ball all over the place. 28 yards to Dontayvion Wicks for six points, and now UVA leads, 14-0.

Virginia stuffed a handoff on 3rd-and-1, and Illinois will go three-and-out and punt.

Touchdown, Jelani Woods, who was wide-open twice on the first series. Four plays, 75 yards, and Virginia leads, 7-0, after 76 seconds of football.
