The Eagles are fresh off another thrilling win vs. a good team, but it’s not enough to make them favorites for a rematch of the NFC Championship Game this upcoming Sunday. Most books have San Francisco as -2.5 pointfavorites vs. the Eagles in Philly, a fairly notable line considering the Eagles have the best record (10-1) in the NFL. They are also coming off wins vs. the Cowboys, Chiefs and Bills. That said, the argument for the 49ers being favored is fairly straightforward.

Wednesday was nearly the most impressive win of the Warriors’ young season. Instead, Golden State came up just short vs. the defending champion Denver Nuggets, losing a 108-105 thriller to close out a four-game road trip. Fighting tired legs and the absence of Draymond Green, the Warriors had two chances to tie the game in the final seconds. Down by five late, Steph Curry hit a wild, 34-foot runner 3 to cut the Denver lead 107-105 with 18 seconds remaining.

If it’s broke, fix it. That seems to be the thought behind the 49ers’ latest move, that will see defensive coordinator Steve Wilks move from calling plays in the booth to the field, starting Sunday in Jacksonville. Head coach Kyle Shanahan made the announcement on Wednesday, continuing a weeks-long trend where Wilks has been the subject of discussion as the 49ers’ defense has been engaged in a free fall.

The 49ers have made a blockbuster move at the trade deadline. Amidst a stretch where San Francisco’s pass rush has been lackluster, they’ve bolstered the defensive line by trading for former No. 2 overall pick, defensive end Chase Young from Washington, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. SF is giving Washington a conditional future third round pick in return.

The Trey Lance era is over in San Francisco. Relegated to just four starts in two seasons due to injury, Lance has been traded to the Dallas Cowboys according to Adam Schefter, a few days after it was announced that he was beat out for the No. 2 quarterback job by Sam Darnold. According to Schefter, the 49ers are getting a fourth-round pick in return. Compensation update: Cowboys are sending a fourth-round pick to the 49ers for Trey Lance, per league source.
