The Colorado Rockies are off to the worst start in Major League Baseball at 3-15 thanks to the sport’s worst offense and that’s prompted some changes, but not the big one some fans wanted. The Rockies announced they are changing hitting coaches on Thursday, ditching three-time World Series champion Hensley “Bam Bam” Meulens to help spark the offense. In his spot will be former Rockies manager Clint Hurdle, but what about the club’s current skipper, Bud Black?

The Colorado Rockies offense hasn’t done enough bam bam early this season, and they’ve fired hitting coach Hensley Meulens because of it — in his spot will be former club manager Clint Hurdle to the gig. Hurdle, the leader of the Rockies for eight seasons, was at the helm when the team won their lone pennant in 2007. His time on the job ended in 2009, when he was fired mid-season. This is the third time the Nuggets have met the Clippers in the playoffs, with the last matchup coming in the second round of the bubble back in 2020.

The Denver Nuggets enter the playoffs as the No. 4 seed in the West with one of the more bizarre stories in the NBA. When they take the floor against the No. 5 seed Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., they’ll be playing under a new head coach less than two years after winning a championship. The league announced the full schedule for the series on Tuesday. It’s Denver’s seventh-straight trip to the postseason and a chance to rebound.
