SPD said the incident began when a male suspect attacked a female resident with a knife. She was unharmed as another tenant intervened, pulling her inside to safety. The suspect then moved on from the woman and fatally stabbed a male near a stairwell. Following this, the knife-wielding suspect encountered a man walking his dog.

Chief Michael said two people were inside the condominium at the time of the fire and managed to evacuate. One person was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The condo sustained significant damage and a nearby condo also suffered heat and smoke damage.
