In the course of testing the new OM System OM-5 Mark II, I took thousands of photographs. Admittedly they're not all keepers – you burn through hundreds of shots while using features like Pro Capture, for example, which records the 15 frames before you fully depress the shutter button so that never miss a moment.

I own far too many cameras. On my shelf right now are 38 of them, from 100MP medium format cameras to lo-fi instant cameras – and I do actually use them all, albeit not on a daily basis. However, if (god forbid) there were a disaster and all those cameras disappeared, which one would I actually buy again? Which system would I rebuild around, to cover both my personal and professional work? It's a tough question.

It may be small, but the Fujifilm X-HF1 has big ideas. Big, crazy ideasThe Fujifilm X-HF1 is a camera that came completely out of left field. But just because nobody asked for it, doesn't mean that nobody needs it – because in a world of status quo cameras and endless specs-chasing, this is the kick up the backside that the industry desperately needed. In case you missed it, the Fujifilm X-HF1 (also known as the Fujifilm X Half) is a fixed-lens compact camera.

Just like its predecessors, the OM System OM-5 Mark II is an exceptional enthusiast camera that's built for adventure – and it's the perfect outdoor companion for those who want to forget the filters and leave the tripod at home, but still get great results. Rock-solid stabilization and class-leading computational features combine with IP53 weather sealing and unrivaled compactness. However, it really is JUST like its predecessors, with core specs that haven't changed much in three generations.
