Renault has cut the ribbon on a new dealership in Letchworth Garden City, with the site becoming the first in the UK to showcase the French brand’s new look. The new showroom, on Icknield Way, is operated by Letchwork Autoways – the first time the firm has operated a Renault franchise. The site is also home to a brand new Dacia dealership. The opening sees Renault return to Letchworth for the first time in a decade, and the Dacia name make a reappearance after 15 years.

Dealer group Pentagon has appointed Tom Carney as its new managing director after David Peel decided to retire. Carney, who was most recently MD for Farizon distributor UK Jameel Motors, has more than 20 years experience in the motor industry. He has also held roles at Inchcape and other blue chip brands. Speaking of his new role, Carney said: ‘I’m super excited to be joining the incredible team at Pentagon.

Vertu Motors saw profits fall despite a rise in revenue in 2024, in what was the ‘lowest new retail car market for 25 years’. The listed dealer group finished 2024 with revenue of £4.8bn – a modest rise of 1.7% on the year before – with dealer acquisitions adding £123.9m to the pot, while disposals and closures amounted to a £40.6m reduction.

China attacks UK trade deal with USChina has criticised the UK-US trade deal in a potential blow to the government’s bid to revive relations with the country. Beijing said it was a ‘basic principle’ that such agreements should not target other nations. Britain’s deal with America includes an agreement to co-ordinate to ‘address non-market policies of third countries’.
