IDAHO FALLS - Idaho Fish and Game is seeking the public’s help in gathering information about a large number of ducks that were recently shot and left to waste on Pine Creek Pass in Bonneville County. On Nov. 12, Fish and Game conservation officers were made aware of 43 ducks that had been dumped just off the Upper Rainey Creek Road, approximately one-half mile from State Hwy 31, at the top of Pine Creek Pass in unit 67.

Fish and Game staff will be stocking a total of 50,800 catchable-size (10 to 12 inch) trout at the following locations around the Upper Snake Region in June. All stocked fish are rainbow trout unless otherwise specified in the comments section.

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game trapped and euthanized two 1 ½-year-old grizzly bears after consulting with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Aug. 31 in the Squirrel area east of Ashton in eastern Idaho. The two bears, a male and a female, received many food rewards, consistently showed no fear of humans and acted aggressively toward people.

Two archery hunters shot and killed a large adult male grizzly bear in self-defense while hunting for elk west of Island Park Reservoir the evening of Sept. 1. The hunters were moving through thick brush when a large grizzly charged directly toward them from a short distance away. Both hunters were able to discharge their sidearms, killing the bear before it made contact with them. No injuries to the individuals involved were reported.
