Back in October I wrote an article praising Keir Starmer and his government for some brave and bold decisions took by himself in the early stages of his tenure, despite much criticism from both the left and the right. Since then, things haven’t got much better for him or his government, with the latest scandal around grooming gang inquiries adding to his already exhaustive list of problems.

Leeds Student Radio have been successful for a second year running in winning the ‘BestStudent Radio Station’ award at the Student Radio Awards 2024. The Student Radio awards take place annually at Indigo at the O2 in London and is the mostprestigious night in student radio where industry experts from across the field cometogether to celebrate the very best in student radio.

On Monday 4th November, the Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson announced that from the next academic year tuition fees are to be raised by £285 to £9,535. This was met by much aggravation from students, many who see the rises as unfair and that it will further increase pressure on student’s finances. However, this was a rise which is long overdue and, in my view, one that students should expect to increase in the years to come.

Its been just over a hundred days now since Keir Starmer was handed the keys to No.10, achieving Labour’s largest landslide since 1997. Since then Keir has come under, in my view, ridiculous criticism from both the left and the right. However, Starmer is playing the long game by getting the necessary and difficult decisions out of the way at the start of the government in the hope of better days in the coming years.

Like many others, I set my alarm bright and early on 31st August for the highly anticipated Oasis reunion tickets which had been announced a matter of days before. Having seen Liam Gallagher perform Oasis’ debut album, ‘Definitely Maybe’, in full the previous weekend, my excitement for the band was as strong as ever.
