On August 20th 2024, a teary-eyed Tim Miller (Deadpool) strutted upon the Gamescom stage to announce his ambitious video game anthology series Secret Level: a collection of short animated stories ranging from the retro, all the way to the modern classics. Having worked on the project for the last 3 years, Miller was quickly overcome with emotion and struggled to maintain his composure, citing himself as an emotional person.

What challenges do indie filmmakers face in capturing an audience? I think currently we are fighting a two-screen viewing experience and maintaining the retention of your audience has been incredibly difficult. There's a whole new generation, Gen Z, Gen Alpha, that you pretty much have to teach them the culture of watching a movie. A lot of your younger peers that I've spoken to, met or even worked with don't have that same ‘going to the movie theatre experience'.

You've had a long history with the Despicable Me franchise, directing the first 2 instalments and working as an executive producer on many projects. How does it feel to return as the sole director for the 4th film? I mean it was great. I've been away as a director since Despicable Me 2, which came out, wow, 10 years ago. So, even though I've been connected as you said to the other films and shorts subsequently, you know it's not the same.
