The Court of Justice of the European Union has dismissed Scania’s appeal against a €880,523,000 EU fine for being part of a price fixing cartel. The ruling relates to the European Commission’s (EC) antitrust investigations into the truck cartel, which was launched in 2010 and saw the EC carry out dawn raids at the offices of Scania, DAF, Daimler, Iveco, and Volvo/Renault in 2011.

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Washington Nationals have drafted Lamar University senior catcher Ryan Snell in the seventh round of the 2023 MLB Amateur Player Draft. Snell was taken with the 195th overall pick. A 2023 first-team ABCA All-Region selection and a third-team All-American, Snell becomes the 89th Cardinal to be drafted by an MLB franchise, according to a news release from Lamar University. He is also the first since Jason Blanchard in 2019 by the San Diego Padres in the 9th Round.

Several Cardinals have continued their baseball season in the Texas Collegiate League, with two – Zach Williams and incoming Cardinal Peyton Havard – named to the 2023 TCL All-Star game.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Not only one of the best catchers in Lamar University history, Ryan Snell will go down as one of the best players in program history as he wrapped up his career as a finalist for the 2023 Buster Posey Award, which is handed out annually to the national collegiate catcher of the year by the Wichita Sports Commission. Snell was one of three finalists for the 2023 award joining Kyle Teel (Virginia) and Jack Payton (Louisville).
