Manchester United fans have accused the club of delivering a “fresh kick in the teeth” with “eye-watering” ticket-price hikes for members at Old Trafford next season. United have introduced a new “match categorisation model”, which will charge non-season-ticket holder adults up to £97 for the most high-profile fixtures against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Omar Berrada, the Manchester United chief executive, has claimed the club can win the Premier League title by 2028. United finished 15th in the table last season, their worst campaign for more than half a century. But Berrada believes the “worst bit is going to be behind us” after a tumultuous past 12 months on and off the pitch and says it is not unrealistic to think United could win the men’s title and Women’s Super League by the time the club celebrates its 150th anniversary in three years.
