One of the most amusing things about watching the Ibrox fans’ volcanic reaction to the Russell Martin appointment yesterday was this idea that if the board has gotten it wrong, their honeymoon will be over and they’ll soon be feeling the heat. I laughed reading all those suggestions yesterday—even the one where Keith Jackson said something very similar in his typically silly way. The miscalculation is immense.

As I wrote earlier, the love-in for Russell Martin is underway. And I said that Celtic wouldn’t be complacent—because you just never know. But there are some things I’m going to take issue with. The most important of them is this: the comparisons to Ange Postecoglou, and why Celtic fans shouldn’t get too excited just because the Ibrox fans were mocking the big Australian when he first walked through our doors. Those comparisons don’t stand up to even the most simplistic examination.

James Forrest | 13:32 05/06/25 The king is dead. Long live the king. How many times have we written that on these blogs? How many times have we warned that you don’t kill kings lightly? The story I usually tell at a time like this is of Gaius Octavian, a teenage boy when his uncle was murdered on the Senate floor. Gaius Octavian was named heir to the legacy of Julius Caesar whilst still in his teens.

James Forrest | 08:00 05/06/25 Yesterday, Adam Idah spoke to a couple of media outlets and defended himself again—not only from critics of what he’s doing on the field, but also from those still having a go at him over a minor off-field indiscretion. Wild, remote and absolutely breathtaking—walking the Sutherland Trail was an adventure like no other. 🏔️🌿 With barely a soul in sight, this hidden gem of the Scottish Highlands was a total delight. 🌊✨ - adventuring with @ZOLEOinc https://t.co/ImFLQFYrjb

630 miles and approx 87 pasties later… I conquered the South West Coast Path! 🥾🌊🎉. Along the way, I: 🏕️ Considered moving into a coastal cave (prime sea views, no WiFi). 🐍 Nearly pitched my tent in an adder sanctuary 🦆 Fought seagulls for my lunch every day @ZOLEOinc https://t.co/IbR7yfA3im
