A star is formed in a nebula, a large cloud of space gas and dust that becomes more dense in certain areas, forming a star. A star gets its energy from nuclear reactions deep in the star's core; where pressure makes the hydrogen atoms in the star collide, forming heavy hydrogen atoms. These heavy atoms collide, producing energy and helium. This is how a star gets its energy.
