Kevin Nolan sees no reason why James Dadge cannot push himself to be more of a first-team regular next season after the young goalkeeper, a product of the club’s academy, made his senior debut at the weekend. The 20-year-old, who has impressed on loan at various non-league clubs, was named on the bench ahead of Nik Tzanev for Wigan’s visit on Saturday and then had his big moment late on, replacing Lee Burge with five minutes of the 90 to play.

Former Northampton Town forward Tom Youngs has passed away at the tragically early age of just 45. Youngs, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2014, played 30 times for the Cobblers between 2003 and 2005 and also had spells at Cambridge United, Leyton Orient and Bury. He died on May 4th in St Nicholas Hospice at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

Cobblers are expected to announce their retained list over the next 48 to 72 hours, with manager Kevin Nolan set to meet all of his players either today (Monday) or tomorrow. Northampton signed off their 2024/25 season by drawing 1-1 at home to Wigan Athletic on Saturday, which confirmed 19th place in League One, but already the focus is on the future and what’s expected to be a summer of significant upheaval.

Mitch Pinnock has been named Cobblers’ InTown Automotive Player of the Season as voted for by readers of the Chronicle & Echo. The versatile midfielder, now in his fourth season at Sixfields, won an incredibly tight contest, the closest in many years, having just edged out top scorer Cameron McGeehan by a handful of votes to take the top prize. Pinnock finished with 45 per cent of the overall vote among Chron readers, compared to McGeehan's 43 per cent.
