    Marie Louise Watson, a seamstress, librarian and retired library branch manager, who brought technology and educational opportunities to neighborhoods across Philadelphia, has died. She was 97. As a leader in the Free Library of Philadelphia system, Watson earned accolades for improving children’s educational experiences. Outside of her professional life, she was well known for creating tailored clothing for her family, friends and broader community. Watson was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Philadelphia.

    Yvonne Robinson Davis, a retired bus driver and former pastor of Mount Sinai Union American Methodist Episcopal Church and Star of Bethlehem Union American Methodist Episcopal Church, died April 8 at Chester County Hospital. She was 79. Born Jan. 30, 1946, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Davis was the daughter of the late Dorothy L. Bowers and Earl Boyden.

    Curtis Emory Brown, an Army veteran, educator and pioneering commercial and visual artist, died April 3. He was 84. A mentor and advocate for emerging talent, he was instrumental in creating opportunities for Black artists to be seen and celebrated in Philadelphia. Born Oct. 19, 1940, Brown was lovingly known as Crip and Mickey. In 1978, he founded the Minority Arts Resource Council (MARC), which was located on Girard Avenue near 15th Street. He served as its executive director.

    Marie Dove, a retired bank clerk, died April 6. She was 99. She was born July 20, 1925, in Florence, South Carolina, to the late Clarence and Frances Jones. Dove received her education in the South Carolina public school system. She was a cheerleader and a member of the girls basketball team. After graduating from high school, she moved to Washington during World War II and was a courier.

    Ernest Harris Brown, an educator, youth mentor and insurance claims representative, died Wednesday, April 2. He was 71. He was affectionately known as “Buggas” and Harris by family members and friends and was born July 10, 1953, in Tifton, Georgia. His family moved from Georgia to North Philadelphia when he was 6 months old. Brown and his family eventually relocated to West Oak Lane in 1966. They were members of Faith Baptist Church.
