    Bryce Miller was an award-winning sports journalist, a world traveler and a great friend. Miller, a former Des Moines Register sports editor and columnist, died Saturday at age 56 after a battle with cancer. Miller, a native of Redfield in central Iowa, had worked as a sports columnist at the San Diego Union-Tribune since 2016. He served as sports editor at the Register from 2005 to 2012 before moving into a columnist role.

    Offensive lineman Cameron Herron has flipped his commitment from Iowa football to Notre Dame. Herron, a 3-star recruit, made the announcement via social media on Monday. He previously had committed to Iowa in June. Herron, a product of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, is ranked 473th nationally in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He is the 8th-ranked prospect in the state of Indiana's senior class.

    Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark could soon join Chris Paul, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce as celebrity athletes to make appearances on the popular State Farm TV commercials. It was revealed Tuesday that Clark has signed an NIL (name, image and likeness) deal with State Farm. She is the first college athlete to sign with the company. State Farm joins a growing list of companies with which Clark has signed NIL deals. The list includes Hy-Vee, Buick, Nike, H&R Block among others.
