The administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari changed the country’s Democracy Day from May 29 to June 12, the day the presidential election of the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola was nullified in 1993 by the then military junta of General Ibrahim Babangida.

The National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed delight over the defection of the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Umo Eno to the party. Governor Eno had earlier yesterday announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, citing the need to connect Akwa Ibom to the government at the centre, among other reasons.
