We aimed to develop a machine learning-based tool for PEP risk prediction to aid in clinical decision-making related to periprocedural prophylaxis selection and post-procedural monitoring. Feature selection, model training, and validation were performed using patient-level data from 12 randomized controlled trials.

Even in 2024, some biliary strictures may prove vexing to endoscopists. Overall, approximately 85% of biliary strictures are malignant, but some can be difficult for endoscopists to definitively evaluate. Some strictures may look malignant and, ultimately, be found to be benign in nature. Similarly, some benign-appearing strictures may, in fact, be malignant. A variety of tools and techniques are available for endoscopists to use to try to reach a definitive diagnosis.
