The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) recently confirmed that it recorded a 13.61% year-on-year increase in container handling during March 2025, reaching 699,928 TEUs compared to 616,079 TEUs in the same period the previous year. Exported containers, it said, saw a significant rise of 31.82% during this period, totalling 280,341 TEUs – up from 212,672 TEUs in the same period last year.

Chandler has worked in the NHS for over 20 years, having joined the NHS Management Training Scheme in 2003. Most of his career has been in the management of various clinical services in specialist teaching hospitals in London.

DP World has confirmed that the construction of Bharat Mart, a 2.7 million ft² business-to-business and business-to-consumer marketplace in Dubai, has begun. The first phase of construction, spanning 1.3 million ft² is set to open by the end of 2026 in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), just 11km from Jebel Ali Port. It is set to feature 1,500 showrooms and over 700,000ft² of warehousing, light industrial units, office space and meeting facilities.

DP World and the Indian government have announced the launch of the ‘Bharat Africa Setu’ – described as “a transformative trade initiative designed to double India-Africa trade and strengthen South-South cooperation”. The initiative is being supported by India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ministry of External Affairs. It will “connect DP World’s ports, economic zones and logistics parks across both regions”.

Headquartered in Dubai World Central, middle-mile air cargo operator SolitAir has announced that it has officially received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Gaining this approval, SolitAir says, underscores its commitment to ‘maintaining the highest levels of air safety and regulatory compliance, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in the region’s logistics and supply chain sector’.
