GLi, a joint venture between industrial developer KSP and global real assets investor PATRIZIA, has announced that construction of its 55,165ft² ‘CR2’ facility in Croydon, South London has commenced. The joint venture describes CR2 as a ‘best-in-class ultra-sustainable logistics warehouse’ which it says will ‘set new benchmarks for cost efficiency in the South London logistics sector’.

The UK Department for Transport (DfT) set out proposed amendments to the existing national policy statement for ports (NPSP) on 4 June 2025. These proposals, the DfT says, are designed to ‘streamline the planning process for ports in England’ and better support ports to ‘deliver important national infrastructure more quickly’.

Wincanton has announced that it has taken delivery of the first of 24 new electric trucks set to join its logistics fleet by the end of the year. Part of a multi-million-pound project, these trucks will be in operation on the UK’s roads this summer. The move has been described by Wincanton as ‘a significant milestone as part of the company’s investment in the necessary solutions to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040’.

On 3 June 2025, US president Donald Trump has issued a proclamation which confirmed that the 25% tariff on imports of steel and aluminium from outside the US would increase to 50% as of this morning [4 June 2025]. This 25% tariff rate was introduced in February, when Trump took action to bring an end to loopholes and exemptions on US steel tariffs, restoring a true 25% tariff on steel whilst elevating the tariff on aluminium to 25%.

Parcel delivery company DPD has partnered with robotics firm Deus Robotics to develop a ‘tailored end-to-end robotic warehouse automation solution’, which is due to be implemented in a DPD sortation centre in London. Deus Robotics was selected as one of the finalists from DPD’s EcoLaunchpad programme, which aimed to ‘bring together experts in sustainability, technology and innovation to develop and test new ideas that can help DPD further reduce its carbon footprint’.
