Only one change was made to the side that lost 1-0 to Gillingham last Saturday, with Liam Kelly coming in to replace an injured Alex Gilbey, a move that saw Joe Tomlinson take the captain's armband. The Dons, desperate for a positive start, earned a corner almost immediately from kick-off. A well-worked passage of play led to a Joe Tomlinson cross being blocked and sent behind by a County player. The corner came to nothing.

The two drivers drove different strategies in this race, starting on medium tyres with Verstappen having a tough middle stint on hards before switching back to mediums. Tsunoda, meanwhile, began on mediums and put another set of mediums before later switching to softs under the safety car.

Q1 was a tense affair for Red Bull's drivers, after both Verstappen and Tsunoda only registered one qualifying lap each. Both drivers went off track and had times deleted for track limits, with Verstappen aborting his lap and returning to the pit while Tsunoda finished his lap and had his time deleted later. They were lucky and both put in decent times on their one timed laps in Q1, with Verstappen going through in P3 and Tsunoda getting through in P14.
