Verstappen and Tsunoda progressed into Q2 fairly comfortably, as developing track conditions saw drivers continue to improve their times. Verstappen put in a P4 performance while Tsunoda finished the first qualifying stage in P10. Williams have certainly surprised many in Formula 1 this year, and recent results show they may just be heating up. Williams entered the 2025 Formula 1 season hoping to compete with the better performing teams in the midfield, but they've hit the ground running so far. The Grove-based team finished the 2024 season in ninth place with just 17 points across the entire season, putting them 29 points behind then-named RB in eighth.

Verstappen was optimistic after qualifying P2 yesterday and he made the most of a strong start, getting past McLaren's Oscar Piastri by the time they reached Turn 4. Verstappen's first push lap in Q1 was the only lap he needed, as it saw him top the times with a 1:15.175, comfortably sending him through to Q2. After a lengthy delay, Q2 got underway with Verstappen's first run seeing him sit P3 behind the McLarens of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, with the gap 0.159 seconds from Piastri's initial time of 1:15.241. The four-time World Champion did not improve his time, but it was enough to go through to Q3 in P5, with eyes firmly on his starting position.
