    Drew Beckett, Director of Georgetown/Scott County Parks and Recreation (GSC Parks) shared operating statistics, accomplishments and future goals for GSC Parks at Monday’s Chamber Luncheon. GSC Parks averaged 89,300 visitor days per month through 2024, Beckett said. “If you hear people say, ‘Oh, there is nothing for people to do in Georgetown. There’s nothing for the kids to do,’ Somebody is doing something,” he said.

    Marcus Brooks was arrested Wednesday morning by Georgetown Police Department’s (GPD) Special Response Team (SRT) in the area of Coleman Lane, according to Georgetown Police officials. Brooks was arrested on an active warrant for probation violation related to a murder charge out of Tennessee, states a police department Facebook post. GPD SRT was supported by patrol, K9 and drone units, according to the post.
