RADAR CHECK: We have a classic case of random, scattered showers and thunderstorms across the northern half of Alabama this afternoon… the weather is mostly dry over the southern counties with only isolated showers. A few thunderstorms are producing gusty winds and small hail; scattered showers and storms will end after sunset.

SUN AND STORMS: Alabama’s weather will feature a mix of sun and clouds through the weekend; expect a passing shower or thunderstorm from time to time. Today most of the storms will be random and scattered, and will come from about 2 until 10 p.m., mainly over the northern half of the state. Heavier storms could produce strong, gusty winds and small hail, but some places will miss the storms completely. The high will be between 87 and 91 degrees for most communities.

Today most of the storms will be random, scattered, and will come from about 2:00 until 10:00 p.m. And, mainly over the northern half of the state. Heavier storms could produce strong, gusty winds and small hail, but some places will miss the storms completely. The high today will be in the 87-91 degree range for most communities.

RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is dry this afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds. We note a few spotty, isolated showers over mainly the southern half of the state. Showers will end soon after sunset; tonight will be mostly fair with a low between 68 and 74 degrees. TOMORROW THROUGH SUNDAY: A surface front will slowly approach from the north, and scattered afternoon and evening storms should be more numerous each day, especially over the northern half of the state.

MOSTLY DRY TODAY: Although a few isolated showers certainly could pop up this afternoon, they should be few and far between. Most Alabama communities will be dry today with a partly sunny sky. Temperatures rise into the 86- to 91-degree range this afternoon. FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: A surface front will slowly approach from the north, and scattered afternoon and evening storms should be more numerous each day, especially over the northern half of the state.
