    Undertaking an intellectual property (IP) audit can set businesses up to drive revenue growth and attract investment, IP experts have said. Jo Alderson and James Talbot of Pinsent Masons were commenting after the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) announced a new scheme, ‘IP Advance’, that offers UK SMEs the chance to apply for up to £4,500 of funding towards the cost of engaging IP professionals to conduct IP audits of, and develop IP strategies for, their organisation.

    The Law Commission of England and Wales has been engaged in a long-term project in which it has explored the extent to which the law currently enables personal property rights to attach to digital assets – and the case for extending the law if it does not. The body previously established that digital assets like cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) do not always unequivocally fit within the two categories of personal property that currently exist in English law.
