Wednesday marks 50 years since the completion of the CN Tower’s main construction — the day the Toronto landmark became the world’s tallest freestanding structure, a title it held for over three decades. On that day, April 2, 1975, the city was abuzz in anticipation of the moment a helicopter known as “Olga” would slot the final piece of the $57-million tower’s antenna into place.
