The Forest Lake Tavern played the perfect host, offering a cozy setting, delicious meals, and lots of laughter. Members arrived with big smiles, dressed in their cheerful holiday best, ready to celebrate not just the season, but a wonderful year of photography adventures.

Thousands of people from Forest Lake and surrounds attended the Forest Lake Community Carols on Saturday December 7, with the annual event bringing the community together again in the spirit of Christmas. The event, organised by the Forest Lake Community Events Association and sponsored by Heritage Bank Forest Lake Branch, provided four hours of community fun at the Forest Lake State School oval.

Forest Lake has been struck by an infestation of blue-green algae, with residents complaining of a nasty stench and voicing concerns over toxic water conditions. The Forest Lake Dragon Boat race, which is the highlight of the Dragon Boat Festival event, was called off due to rising levels of algae in the lake in June 2024. Since then, algae levels have continued to increase, creating a nasty smell and gradually turning the water green.

By Pat ParlaneHappy New Year! We are wishing everyone a great 2025. We finished off the year with a great party at Forest Lake Hotel and enjoyed a lovely meal, lots of raffle and lucky door prizes, and a great duo that had most of us up dancing. The week before a few of us went to the Queensland Council of Garden Clubs Christmas party and they had us making wreaths from a box of goodies on our table. We were allowed to visit other tables and beg or steal some of their decorations.

With the year quickly drawing to a close, the ladies of Pillowcases for Oncology Kids managed to fit in the last packing day for the year. We packed 237 pillowcases which will be delivered to the Brisbane Children’s Hospital for children undergoing treatment for cancer. We make them with good quality cotton fabric in a wide range of patterns including teddy bears, spaceships, animals, fairies and patterns suitable for teenagers.

Pursuit Youth in Forest Lake is helping to make a big difference for high school students in the local area, offering a fun and engaging program that is open to youth from all walks of life. Every Friday night during the school term, Forest Lake Baptist Church (FLBC) associate pastor Seb Henley and 17 volunteers welcome around 45 students from grade 6-12 at the Forest Lake State School Performing Arts Centre.
