BlackRock Inc. (BLK) has renamed or changed the methodology of 135 ETFs and funds in response to a “client-informed approach” to European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) fund-naming guidelines. The changes will see the world’s largest asset manager remove the "ESG" moniker from its iShares MSCI ESG Screened UCITS ETF range and BSF Systematic ESG World Equity Fund, comprising 51 strategies housing $51 billion of assets under management (AUM).

BlackRock Inc., the world’s largest ETF issuer, launched its first so-called "accelerated" exchange-traded fund, aimed at doubling the performance of the firm’s giant S&P 500 tracker, the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV). The iShares Large Cap Accelerated ETF (TWOX) was little changed in its first day of trading on the CBOE Thursday. It started with $10 million, according to the company’s fund description.

The ETF from $33bn asset manager follows Janus Henderson's CLO European ETF launch. U.S. credit-focused asset manager Palmer Square Capital Management will enter European ETFs with three strategies capturing collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). The Mission Woods, Kansas-based firm said it will look to target European institutional investors with a trio of ETFs in “early 2025”, starting with the filing of the Palmer Square EUR CLO Senior Debt Index ETF.

Good news is bad news—at least for today. Stocks dropped and bond yields spiked to their highest levels since 2023 after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported much stronger-than-expected jobs numbers Friday. Employers added 256,000 workers to their payrolls in December, according to the BLS, which was much higher than the 165,000 economists were expecting. The unemployment rate ticked lower, to 4.1% from 4.2%, compared to the unchanged reading economists expected.
